Product Description

If you think that Yowza was just happy to have the best elliptical on the planet, you were dead wrong. That's why we have introduced an even more advanced Cardio Core elliptical machine, called the Islamorada. Try our new SuperCore handlebars with Yowza' s unique, egg-shaped rotating grips and you will feel your abs burn. The Islamorada has a longer stride length adjusting from 19" to a full 30" long. If a long stride is still not enough, take the incline all the way up to Islamorada's industry-leading 60 % grade. Yowza' s patented self-pivoting SureFit foot pedals have a thicker – softer gel insert. It's no wonder that industry pundits are already naming the Islamorada the best new elliptical machine for 2013. New IWM weight management software and a precise wireless weight scale come as standard equipment. Given the high quality, commercial grade components used in manufacturing the Islamorada, Yowza is proud to upgrade our parts warranty to a full seven years on all parts and lifetime on the drive system.

5Leap of faith
By D. Esser
In the intrest of full disclosure, i was not asked to review this product and i purchased it from the manufacturer direct as i had a lot of questions answered online and i felt the guy deserved the commission. It is difficult to buy this product untested because while they will take it back, it will be difficult to return in orginal packing, costly to ship, and this thing is heavy to move.My experience has been great. I was looking at another online only trainer and could not get through a session with anyone. The waits for online help were crazy and i figure if i can't get help taking my cash what happens if i NEED help with the product. So Yowza won the day with great online customer service. I was very nervous about this purchase. The thing was shipped and arrived in Chicago in a matter of days. If you are at all slight please spend the extra benjamin and get in room delivery. This thing going up stairs or down will be a bear. I am a ddiy(don't do it yourselfer) but i was able to assemble this thing, IKEA directions and all. Again because this is a sturdy piece of machinery, there are one or two spots where some strength and a second set of hands do come in very handy. If you are older or again pretty slight, spend the $ and have it assembled. The handle bar swing vs the standard pole swing is no big deal. It really has zero learning curve and i am not a poster boy for coordination monthly. Now as i am just resuming my workout routine i am on very low resistance and not a ton of incline. That having been said i feel about as much core burn as i do picking up the twinkee(RIP)and remote that i dropped (i also count that as a crunch). I do think the movement does engage the core to some degree and when the intensity increases i do expect some advantage with this machine. If an elliptical is going to work the abs this one is probably a good choice. The foot pedals are padded to the point where you could workout in barefeet. The thing makes zero noise other than my sneeker squeak. Smooth as a babies behind. Changes in incline are noticed only in the intensity level.I have only used this for a whopping 9 workouts but so far, so very good.I wrote this only because i struggled with my decsion to buy online, sight unseen. Early in the ballgame but i honestly do not have any complaints at this stage. I will try to update a couple of months and many workouts from nowUPDATE: Just over a month now and i am using it on average 45 minutes per day 5 days a week. there is a kind of thump sound from the rear (the machines, not mine) it isn't real loud and in no way do you feel anything while working out. Still liking it and using more of the programs maybe i would go to 4 stars now that it isn't perfect but it is still working fine...i will update again as needed or in another month or twoLAST UDATE: Its now May and i have been using the machine as i was before. The noise is gone so i am back to 5 stars. I am using this machine and Jungle Jim Xt suspension straps in my daily workout. While i don't know which excercise or combination is doing it, i am seeing cosmetic changes to my core along with the improved cardio as you would expect from such a machine. I have worked out on other machines and lifted and not seen the results i am getting from this combo. I couldn't be happier and i will only update if there is a major malfunction to report

5Great machine
By L. Panesi
I do not work for, or am I affiliated with Yowza.I've used this model for two weeks. I bought it from the manufacturer. I had previously owned to Captiva model. I had that model for three years and liked it. I decided to upgrade to a newer model. After studying all of the different ellipticals out there I decided to stay with Yowza. The two main reason were the stride length and incline. I couldn't find any that had more than a 22 inch stride. The Islamorada has 30 inches. The highest incline I could find was 40 degrees. The Islamorada has 60 degrees. The first time I used it I was blown away. The first thing I noticed were the handle bars. Much nicer than the Captiva. The next I noticed was the incline. 60 degrees is incredible. I felt leg muscles that I never felt before. It seemed as though my knees were up near my chin. 60 degrees is a big difference from 40 degrees.A feature that I love is the egg shaped grips on the handle bars. This is a tremendous feature. I find that I use these grips about 75% of the time. They are very comfortable and help with the workout. It used to be a chore to get on my elliptical. I never loved working out. It was a struggle to do 30 minutes. With the Islamorada I do one hour every day. I don't know how to explain it except that it now seems more enjoyable to use. I actually look forward to working out. One of the reasons I believe is because of the new handle bars; especially the egg shaped grips. The machine is extremely quiet and very smooth. I can barely hear it. The foot pedals are so soft that you could actually workout without shoes. The LED console gives you calories burned, time (up or down) distance and RPM. The only thing I would improve on would be a little more color on the console.Yowza's customer service is the best that I have ever seen with any company. These people will bend over backward to accommodate you. They answer the phone right away and you can talk to a technician at any time. Example, I broke a part on my Captiva. It was my fault. They sent me the part at no cost then they called me three days later to see if I received it.I really think that you will love the Islamorada. It is a great value considering that many top model ellipticals range between $3,500-$5,500.

4After 2 months and some 30 rides...
By zaspi
I choose Yowza Islamorada after investing time on reviewing what is available and have to say that at the end had a hard time to decide between this one and the Octane Q37. Took the risk and choose the "latest" and more expensive technology . . .but also realized that may be difficult to get a fairly good equipment below $1,500...Delivery: would be good to consider is too heavy to be handled by one person and you have to make arrangements to get the box to the final assembling location in your home. UPS is not allowed to cross your driveway and will deliver at the curb... so I called Yowza to get the box dimensions and then, I picked up at UPS warehouse and with this, I gained free help to get it on my car. From the cart to the garage I moved it with the help of gravity and a cargo dolly.Assembly: not so easy! they may recommend professional help? The manual is fairly good (indeed very complete) but not extremely friendly for inexperienced mechanics and you will have to spend some time going through it several times before getting ready to start. To my surprise, the more complex assembling parts are the body protectors (undercarriage and frame front covers) which are rather weak and my easily break. They come with a wide variety of screws and some are not easy at all to be fitted. You must carefully review all the screws and receivers positioning before attaching the parts together! Using a cord to lift (tight it to the console supporting tube handlers) and keep holding up the elliptical pedals will help you with this parts assembly. One more tip : once you have finished attaching the console support tube, place 2 blocks (3 to 4 inches high) under the front wheels to keep the elliptical front a bit higher off the floor. You can use the polystyrene protecting material that comes in the box for this purpose.Defective Part or wrong assembler? One vital part (#505 bolt) that goes through the wave washer (521) for Pedal Arm, did not end well. Although entered to the end and is somehow well placed; turned out rotating over and over at the end even when before I finished screwing it tightly...Sturdy? Mostly Yes, as you can expect for a $2500 equipment but the plastic body parts are not so and... I have my doubts on how long is going to take for the swinging arms on top to be wobbling... I know saying this is unfair as today are perfect but is difficult to believe this moving pinions are going to resist some years of constant workout... still be seen. The Elliptical: I use elliptical because can't run in the streets or treadmills anymore. I travel a lot and know fairly well many of the professional elliptical installed in Hotel gyms around the world. So far, have ran only 60 minutes on the Yowza Islamorada and it does the trick. I consumed 650 calories and end up tired and filling the leg's muscles comfortably sored. But... took me some time to fill resistance and had to take it to 12 level before getting the necessary strength to fill I was exercising. I used incline leves 5-10 and 20%. One challenge, I still can't get used to be swinging my arms instead of moving them back and forth to help the motion. Besides, I still don't understand which body part I am fitting up with this... One more element to get use to is the proximity of the reading panel to my body and head. I am used to have this further away in front of me and being almost over the control panel feels at least wire.Bottom line, although you get a lot of value for your money in terms of strength, technology and the equipment itself... is also a somehow new technology and I need more time to get use and become a fan (hopefully!). Will add more after some 3 months of use.------------------After 2 months and some 40 x 45 minutes rides...I'll keep the 4 stars and feel very tempted to reduce it to 3. This elliptical really helps to keep your legs, gluteus, arms, chest and even some abdominal muscles fit. Takes some time to get used to the swinging move of the arms but is indeed a more natural motion that the straight forward (back and forth) one. I really wanted to give it 5 starts and this is mainly for the price paid! I had very high expectations after having expended $ 2,500! What is not perfect?- Is difficult for me to feel and keep the `resistance' from the brake in the wheel (electro-magnetic brake). I won't feel any effort or resistance until reaching the level 12 and it only comes to 16. Having said this, have to recognize it becomes very hard to move at 15 or 16 level.- The resistance varies when you incline the machine and feels again softer.- The "Automatically Programed" exercise that is proposed to you by the computer together with the weight balance makes not much sense (28 minutes with certain incline and don't know how much resistance?) and on top of this, you cannot read the program's chosen resistance when using this mode.- The computer does not keep record of your exercises even if it recognizes the user. So what is the point?- The computer gives crazy lectures when used in "Automatically Programed for you" mode. I even got once a super-inclination of 80% which is not possible to reach manually??? How?? why? This may be a defect and I might have to call Yowza again.- Knock and clack sounds are not supposed to be there but I got one out of a defective set of bolts received. Yowza has already shipped new bolts (2 weeks delivery for bolts?) and provided me with a set of instructions to cope with potential future knocks and noises. All on a do it yourself basis and never so far offered to send a technician to help...So, again, 2,500 may be too much for a non-perfect machine
